"...Not what I desire, but what You desire."

In my personal reading, I have been making my way through Mark. As I neared the end, and the Last Supper, followed by Yahusha's crucifixion, I found a verse that really speaks to me.
Marqos (Mark) 14:36, “And He said, ‘Abba, Father, all is possible for You. Make this cup pass from Me. Yet not what I desire, but what You desire.’”

What I really enjoy about this verse is that Yahusha was willing to sacrifice His desires, His selfish ambitions, His flesh, to walk in the Father's will. How often do we not follow our Messiah in this example, and instead follow our own desires?
This is something that we should say, especially when praying for something:
"Oh, Yah, please give me this, or make it happen, but let not my desire be done, but Yours first."
It goes along with what Yahusha says when He gives us the example of how to pray:
“This, then, is the way you should pray: ‘Our Father who is in the heavens, let Your Name be set-apart, let Your reign come, let Your desire be done on earth as it is in heaven.’”
Mattithyahu (Matthew) 6:9–10
It's been a big thing in our family through the years to really focus on building His Kingdom in all we do, so seeking His desires and waiting for Him to lead is another way we can do that.
Another verse comes to mind as well when talking about His desires and our desires:
“And delight yourself in יהוה, And let Him give you the desires of your heart.”
Tehillim (Psalms) 37:4
It may come to a point—and this would be the goal, I suppose—that as we walk with Yahuah, in His ways and in step with Him, and become attuned to His Spirit, our desires would become His desires, and He would give us those desires.
As we focus on His Kingdom and His will, seeking His desires and seeking Him in all we do, He will be faithful to lead us in all things and give us what we ask, because what we ask would be His will anyway!

I pray that this has encouraged you to seek Him more and know His ways, and focus on His Kingdom!
Have a blessed day!
